Food Pantry

Goddard UMC has a food pantry mission for the needy in Fort Smith and surrounding areas.  Anyone may come once every 3 months and get a large bag of groceries.  First time visitors are asked to bring a photo ID and proof of address.

Food Pantry hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.  For more information contact us at 479-785-1415 and Press 1 for the Food Pantry.

Goddard hands out more than 60 bags of groceries per week.

Members Elizabeth Eubanks and Don Holland help bring in and organize our food stock which is then separated and divided into each grocery sack.

Thanksgiving and Christmas

Each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas the Goddard Food Pantry gives out frozen Turkeys and dinner bags to anyone in need.  The congregation prepares over 100 bags and turkeys for each holiday, in addition to the regular Food Pantry grocery bags.

UMCOR

(United Methodist Committee on Relief)
UMCOR, is the humanitarian relief and development arm of the United Methodist Church. It was first established in 1940 under it's original name, The Methodist Committee on Overseas Relief (MCOR), in response to displaced and vulnerable populations in the wake of World War II.

Over the last 80 years, UMCOR has responded to disasters all of the world including drought and famine in Africa, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Sandy and others, as well as earthquake and tsunamis in the Indian Ocean and multiple tornado disasters here in the United States.

UMCOR's work can be categorized into three major areas:

1. Humanitarian Relief / Disaster Response
2. Sustainable Development
3. Global Health (in collaboration with Global Ministries)

UMCOR's administrative costs are completely supported by congregations of the United Methodist Church so that 100% of donations to UMCOR go straight to relief efforts.

Goddard's Missions team regularly sends Health Kit supplies and School Kit supplies to the UMCOR distribution center at Sager Brown in Baldwin, La.

In 2018, our young adults group, Ignite, prepared supplies for 325 School Kits and 300 Health Kits.
