Room #202

The Cornerstone class consists of Young Adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.  The class meets on the second floor in Room #202.   The teacher for this class is Matthew Sneed.  The class is currently studying the scriptures from the United Methodist Lectionary to reinforce the sermon and allow for a time of discussion.  All young adults are welcome whether you are a single, a couple, or a family.


Men’s Bible Class

Main Floor Conference Room

Presently consisting of men and women.  The class originated in the early 1900’s with numbers close to 200 men.  Today there remain 8 members who meet in the Church Library. The class follows a traditional curriculum, studying the scriptures with class discussion. Our teacher is Robert Neufell.


Susan C King

Room #133 Main Floor / Across from the Parlor

The Susan C. King Sunday School Class meets in the Susan C. King classroom (formerly the Harvesters’ classroom) across from the parlor. Sherry Stockton is the teacher/facilitator. 

The class does a verse by verse study of the Bible using different translations, with discussion on how the Bible relates to today. 

There is a warm, friendly atmosphere in the class, and anyone interested in an in-depth Bible study is more than welcome.


The Gathering Disciples Sunday School Class

was started in the year 2007 to provide short term studies in a small group atmosphere. The class meets at 9:40 am in the Young Hall Lounge, Room #302

Members are kept informed of prayer concerns and events through email. Occasionally the class goes to lunch after church, or meets at a member's home for brunch. Projects include donations to local charities and church missions such as the Goddard Food Pantry, the Children's Neighborhood Christmas Party, The Heifer Project, etc.  We welcome all to join us for lively conversation and study.  


Wesley- The Greatest Generation

Room #136 Main Floor

There are 17 class members, with average attendance of 14. Ages 75-100 years. The class has 4 teachers, and another member substitutes if needed. Adult Bible Studies from Cokesbury are used for class study and discussion. Many of our members participate in the Goddard Hilltopper activities. We get together about every two months for lunch or dinner at a restaurant.


The Adventurers Sunday School Class

Room #306 Young Hall Building

The Adventurers Sunday School Class meets in Young Hall (across from the Abbey) with Jim Woodward and Harold Braswell as teachers.  The class consists of couples and singles with a variety of ages. Once you are a member of this class you are always cared for and if you should move away, you are designated a missionary for the Adventurers.

Over the years we have done a variety of studies, all Bible-based. Regardless of the type of study, lively discussion is a part of the lesson with all members encouraged to give their input with no fear of disrespect.

Members of the class have the following reasons that they enjoy attending the Adventurers class: The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, you are made to feel welcome, the feeling of a loving, caring fellowship among a community of friends who take care of each other is obvious.

The Adventurers class meets at 9:40 a.m. with the lesson beginning at 9:45 a.m. following the visiting and fellowship time.

Please come give this class a try as we have good lessons which are enjoyable and educational and we will truly care about you.  Last, but not least, “there are no stairs to climb.”


New Beginnings Sunday School Class

Young Hall Multi Purpose Room

Some of our New Beginnings Sunday School members have attended for over twenty-five years. We look forward to growing and welcoming adults of all ages, couples and singles.  We begin at 9:40 am with about fifteen minutes of fellowship before we start a bible-based study. We have informal, open discussion, where we are not afraid to speak our minds, because all opinions are treated with respect and love.  



Young Hall #303

Genesis Class welcomes you to be a part of our Sunday School studies. The class consists of couples and singles, and we meet on Sunday morning at 9:40 a.m. with fellowship and prayer concerns. Our class is informal and we do a variety of studies and open discussion.

We support our Church missions such as the Pantry, Children’s Ministry and other needs as they arise. We support the Holiday Pie Ministry at Thanksgiving and Christmas, which provides pies for the local Rescue Mission. We also come together as friends as we eat together.

Please come and be a part of our Sunday School community.


Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class

Parlor - First Floor

The Pairs and Spares Class is an adult discussion group that has met at Goddard since the 1970’s. The leader of the class is Mary Beth Sudduth and the class consists of couples and singles. The class meets on Sunday morning at 9:45ish in the Parlor. The class is very informal and devotes much time to prayer requests and concerns of those attending followed by a discussion of the current study. A weekly e-newsletter keeps everyone aware of prayer requests and other class information. The class enjoys finding time for social gatherings and supporting one another and various mission opportunities. Regular contributions are made to Hannah House, the Goddard pantry, and children’s ministries. A variety of materials are chosen for study. You are invited to visit Pairs and Spares this Sunday morning.
